All players can check their progress in a game by clicking on their own name in the Lobby.

All players start with 1500 points and the more cash games you win the higher your ranking will climb.

All players can play with other players but if you improve significantly you may find that MoneyGamings weaker "bot" players, RookieBot and AmateurBot, will stop accepting your challenges. ProBot is happy to play all players.

Rookie: < 1600 points
Amateur: 1600-1749 points
Pro: > 1750 points

Players can choose to MatchPlay or MoneyPlay wagering on games of backgammon. Here's how each type of wagering works, in a nutshell.

MatchPlay Backgammon - First select a MatchPlay Game Type in the lobby and then sit and join a Table displaying your preferred stake. Matches are won by the player who reaches the target point-score first. The winner receives his or her stake back plus their opponent's stake, less the applicable rake.

MoneyPlay Backgammon - This fairer, performance-based way to play Backgammon for money is one of the most popular ways to win real money. Select the MoneyPlay Game Type in the lobby and then sit and join a Table displaying your preferred per-point stake and Buy-In. The Buy-In is the amount of money brought to the table by each player. Your winnings at the end of the game are calculated as the difference between your points scored and your opponent's points scored, multiplied by the chosen per-point stake. You can rebuy into the table at any stage.

QuickStart

Step 1: Make sure you have funds in your account
Moneygaming accepts Visa, Mastercard and Debit cards, Neteller and Moneybookers accounts as well as bank transfers and cheques. Click on "Deposit Cash" anywhere on the site to add funds to your account.

Step 2: Open Lobby
Open up the Multiplayer Lobby by clicking on the Play Now button.

Step 3: Join or create a game
Join one of the open challenges in the Lobby by clicking "Join", then "Start Game" when the game window opens. Alternatively, create your own table by clicking "Create New Table" and choosing your game type and stake.

Note: it's always worth reading the Quickstart Guide, Game Instructions and visit Moneygaming's Skill School before playing for high stakes. Why not play their bot players for free first, so you get a feel for the game.

Step 4: Play! and Good luck!

Hypergammon is a variation on backgammon. Instead of beginning with 15 checkers which need to be borne off from your home board, players each start with only three checkers on the 22, 23 and 24 points. These three need to be brought round the table and then borne off from your homeboard as if this were a game of backgammon with the same checkers in place. All other rules are exactly the same as in backgammon including ‘hitting’ an opponent, the doubling cube and so forth.
